Creation of Universe
From the Biblical cosmogony, (Gen i n ii - 1-7) which reflects old Babylonian cosmogony, the scheme is apparently to be taken literally as to days n is as follows: 1st day God created light, 2nd day the firmament, 3rd day the earth n vegetation, 4th day the stars n planets, 5th day fish n fowl from the sea, 6th day cattle, creeping things, beasts on land n man, 7th day, God ended HIS work n rested. That is from Genesis. But from The Quran is different....For days in The Quran refers to stages, in which may include thousands of years or more. Our scheme is wholly different...1stly Allah SWT did NOT REST, and NEVER REST. HIS Throne doth extend over the Heavens n Earth, n HE feeleth no fatigue in Guarding n Preserving them. 2ndly, Allah's SWT work has not ended. HIS activity still goes on. 3rdly, man in our scheme does not come in with land animals; his advent is much later....4thly, our stages are not sharply divided from each other's, as in the above Biblical scheme where stars n planets having been created on the 4th day, it is not intelligible how the first three days were counted, nor how vegetation grew on the 3rd day. Our stages for Earth n Heavens in The Quran are not in sequence of time for Heavens n Earth. Our SIX stages are broadly speaking. 1st day or stages-The throwing off of our planet from cosmic matter. 2nd-Its cooling n condensing. 3rd n 4th-The growth of vegetable n animal life. 5th n 6th-The parallel growth of the starry realm n our solar system.
